Product Details

Born in Portland, Oregon and raised in San Francisco, Richard Diebenkorn attended Stanford University and later the California School of Fine Arts (now the San Francisco Institute) where Mark Rothko became an influence. Among Diebenkorn's other influences were Pierre Bonnard, Pablo Piccaso, Georges Braque, and Henri Mattisse, whose works he studied earlier while stationed in Washington, DC, during World War II. Stylistically, Diebenkorn moved from Abstract Expressionism in the 1940s into figurative painting-leading the Bay Area Figurative Movement in the 1950s-and then back into abstraction, producing elegant, thought-provoking paintings exemplified by those reproduced in this notecard set. This charming notecard set features artworks by Richard Diebenkorn, Ocean Park, 1979, Seawall, 1957, Miller 22, 1951, Untitled 1950, and Berkeley, No. 3, 1954. Contains 20 cards, 4 of each design, with white envelops. Measures 5 x 7 in.
